Students from the University of Informatics  Sciences (UCI), recently graduated, were winners of the National Computing Contest  2016, according to the advisor of the Science and Technology Directorate of the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba (MES) Ph.D. Mercedes F. Medina Ocampo.

From the six submitted works, three got the relevant category and two obtained mentions.

Hmast module for the administration and migration to Samba4 of the active directory service, presented by Felipe González Santiago and Yosel L. Vera González from the Free Solutions Center (CESOL) of school 1 reached relevance, as well as Computer component to accelerate the process of Modeling and calculation of beams, defended by Julio César Pérez González, and computer module to automate the design process of helical springs, by Gustavo García González, both from the Basic Sciences Department of the school 4.

He also mentioned the Interactive and Experimental System for the teaching - learning process of discrete mathematics in the engineering career in Computer Science, by José Ángel Álvarez Abraira of the Center for Identification and Digital Security (CISED) from  school 1, and the Index of RDF graphs from a SPARQL Endpoint, from the researchers from the Electronic Government Center (CEGEL) of school 3, Alejandro Jesús Mariño Molerio and Juan Carlos Moreira De Lara.

Felipe González Santiago shared with the university press the need to have free alternatives of quality that allow mainly to guarantee security and technological sovereignty, taking into account the existing technological monopoly of large private software corporations such as Microsoft.

González considered that the country should have free software that meets the more specific needs of our companies and mentioned in this regard the Active Directory service that is widely used in Cuba and in the world as a solution to offer authentication and authorization services Centralized.

The MES Science and Technology Directorate also recognized all reviewers for their performance in the activity.
