On the occasion of the first anniversary of the Language Center of the University of Informatics  Science (known as UCI), the self-access laboratory was inaugurated on November 2 at self learning center (Casie 4) from teaching building 4, belonging to school 6. It  will provide the university community  more facilities for learning languages.

The laboratory will allow those who use it to acquire communicative skills, mainly in the English language, as this is considered a universal language.

 MSc. Ivonne Collada Peña, director of this center, said  the opening words in which she explained to the participants that with this new modality of learning lanuguages  they will be able to increase the quality of the graduates of the University, through the management of the self-learning, guided by professors, specialists and technicians.

The meeting was also attended by PhD. Miriam Nicado García, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee  Party, the Council of State of the Cuban Republic and Rector of the UCI; members of the University Council;   language teachers of the institution and other guests.

During the exchange was shown a material on the facilities that will provide this laboratory where its users will be able to practice what they learned through films, audiovisual materials, books, magazines and others: To access  this lab  they must book in advance by telephone 7 837 25 82 or Via email centroidiomas@uci.cu with the subject: Auto access.

The meeting was closed by PhD Nicado García, who congratulated all the staff who work in the Center for the commemoration and expressed the satisfaction of having been able to feel the impact of this in the University and throughout the Island, Evaluated in this way jointly with the Ministry of Higher Education, and also noted the importance of continuing to fulfill the tasks set to achieve future goals and set new milestones that will be opportunities to learn foreign languages to the UCI and for  the country.

As a conclusion, the Rector of the university and the Director of the Language Center cut  the access ribbon to the laboratory in which Dailét Soto Fumero, the  responsible engineer of this lab, showed off a part of all the high value materials they possess for Instruction of the different languages.
