Between October 11 and the 14, the University of Informatics Sciences hosts the Second National Training Workshop for Teachers of English for Specific Purposes, with the objective of analyzing themes around the evaluation of communicative competences in that language.

Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, the University of Bremen, Germany, and with the support of the British Council

, the seminar is being delivered by the German professor Claudia Harsch, Director of the Language Center of the universities in that German city, and current President of the European Association for the Evaluation of Languages (EALTA).

Under the name of Training in English Assessment for Higher Education, the workshop is the preamble to a long-term project, which will consolidate knowledge and skills in the evaluation of learning, as well as in the development of appropriate testing tools according to international benchmarks.

This initiative, which includes teachers from different institutions of higher education in Cuba and executives of the Ministry of Education, arose from the need to update the Foreign Language staff in the Cuban universities, within the new policy of the Ministry of Higher Education for learning the English language as well as the program planned by this body to provide teacher training and development.
