"Fidel Maestro, Martí Maestro" tribute days at UCI
On a day marked by history, this January 8th, arrival of the Caravan of Liberty in Havana, there began at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) the "Fidel Maestro, Martí Maestro" tribute days.
The room that houses the Center of Studies of Fidel Castro’s thought in this house of higher studies, was the favorable scene for the University Council, headed by Dr.Sc. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of this institution, along with professors, workers and students, to learn about the main activities that will take place during these commemoration days.
The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sc. Natalia Martínez Sánchez, was in charge of the key address, in which she recalled that this 2018 is full of important historical dates and political and social processes as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Revolution, the 150th of the Beginning of our Wars of Independence, the 65th Anniversary of the Moncada Garrison attack, and the 90th anniversary of Ernesto Che Guevara’s birth.
Furthermore, she added, these tribute days will end just when we commemorate the 165th anniversary of the birth of our National Hero on January 28. Various activities will be held, among them, the Scientific-methodological Conference of the career in Computer Science Engineering on 9th, 10th and 11th; the traditional solemn ceremony on the 89th Anniversary of the murder of Julio Antonio Mella on January 10th, as well as the History Forum and the Youth Seminar on Marti on the 17th.
Dr. Sc. Martinez Sánchez added that UCI-Biocubafarma Workshop is also scheduled to take place on the 12th to focus on the essential aspects of the education, professional practice and elective curriculum of students in the Bioinformatics Engineering career. She also said that UCI Assessment Meeting of Science and Technology will be held on the 15th, and that on the 19th there will take place the Methodological Scientific Workshop with instructive classes taught by young teachers opting for both associate and full professors teaching ranks.
In addition, the Vicerector for Academic Affairs stated that on the 19th there will be an exchange between UCI professors and specialists of the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences (ICCP); the 26th will be devoted for the review of the fulfillment of the 2017 objectives, and on the 27th the closing of the tribute days will take place with the participation of our young people in the traditional Torch March.
As a final point, the Vicerector urged the entire university community to be participants in everything planned, doing at every moment what should be done, and doing it well in order to honor and defend the legacy of our Commander in Chief.
