Surveys and interviews to continue the evaluation of the Doctorate in Informatics

The team of the Technical Evaluation Committee of the National Accreditation Board (JAN) that in the current week evaluates the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science of the University of Informatics Sciences (known as UCI) continues its work.

This Tuesday morning, April 25th, 2017, in classroom 4 and in the Conference Room  one from the Rectorate of the institution, experts, Ph.D.s Pedro Lázaro Romero Suárez, Rogelio Lau Fernandez and Godofredo Ramón Garay Álvarez, Led by Ph.D. Julieta Coro Bermello, exchanged with managers, teachers, tutors, aspirants and graduates of the program.

Representatives of each group were given a different survey, as well as interviews to know the strengths and weaknesses of the Doctorate in Informatics.

In the interviews the graduates highlighted among the strengths of the Doctorate in Computing, which are motivation to continue research, the quality of professors, seminars and workshops, and personalized attention. They considered as weaknesses the bibliography and the amount of exchange with foreign scientists.

The previous one is one of the steps for the Technical Evaluation Committee at the end of the week to give its final result. Previously, the UCI requested the JAN to carry out the process, and for this reason they have been in this higher education center since Monday, April 24th, when they were introduced with a general presentation, the strengths and weaknesses of the program were exposed and reviewed the essential documentation, determining that the evaluation could continue.

In the afternoon, the evaluators hold a working meeting to process the surveys and interviews and continue to review the documentation, which includes records, thesis, scientific production of the staff and other relevant contents of the program.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the evaluation process continues and will conclude on Friday, April 28th, with the final report and the evidence that will be presented to the JAN so that it can subsequently be awarded the category: Certified, Accredited or Excellence.
