In the hall of events of School Building 4, this Monday, July 3, 2017, the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) opened its doors to the X edition of the International Summer School, an academic event for postgraduate training and the development and integration of centers and organizations involved in university education, scientific development and the development of society.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Dr. Sc., Miriam Nicado García, UCI Rector; Dr. Sc., Raydel Montesino Perurena, Deputy Rector of the institution; and Dr. Sc., Arturo Arias Orizondo, Director for Postgraduate Training at the University. Other members of the University Council and leaders of the center's political and mass organizations also attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Montesino reported that this year the International Summer School will only last for seven days, instead of the usual two-weeks period. He added that professionals from different universities in the country are also accompanying us as students and course professors, too.

In addition, professors from the Institute of Computational Technology and Information Security of the Federal University of Southern Russia,-- including the director of that center-- will be teaching a scientific seminar. Among the participants sharing this summer courses, there is also an educator from Mexico, and there are students from countries like the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Costa Rica, as stated by the Deputy Rector at UCI, an institution that, as he recalled, will be celebrating its 15th anniversary next December.

This development or postgraduate system is also directed to our professors at the University of Informatics Sciences. "We hope to be updated on important global issues," he concluded.

Furthermore, Arias Orizondo offered details of the general program, wich includes teaching 28 courses. He added that at the closing of the Summer School, an English course will be developed from July 10 to 14. He also informed, on the other hand, that out of the 620 participants in the center at the moment, 334 are UCI faculty.

The Postgraduate Training Director summed up his speech saying that, "The greatest importance of the X International Summer School relies on the number of courses and the diversification of subjects, by means of which we can measure the competence of the University of Informatics Sciences to continue training our professionals and those from other Cuban and overseas institutions"
