As part of the activities for the 55th anniversary of the UJC at the University of Informatics Sciences (known as UCI) was held this Friday the closing of the X Chess  Tournament Remberto Fernandez in its first international edition.

In the presence of the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Antonio Guerrero; Carlos Rivero González, national commissioner of the discipline and MSc. Silvano Merced Len, Vice-Rector of University Extension and Residence; The MSc. Isbel Herrera del Sol, organizer of the tournament thanked the contribution in the contest of different areas of the University.

During the meeting, International Master Alexey Fernández, Victor Pozo and FIDE Master Lázaro González were honored, winners of the Elite, Premier and Talento groups, respectively.

In the video room of the Wifredo Lam Cultural Center Ibrahim García was also distinguished with the standard of referee FIDE and Oscar Angulo and José Sarmiento with the international referee rule, as well as Isbel Herrera del Sol with the international organizer standard.

In this same scenario was recognized International Master Henry Soto, winner of the Blitz Tournament and Benjamin Arvola, Michel Coto and Dylan Berdayes who achieved the International Master standard.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez, said that the practice of the science game helped him to stand the rigor of the prison and alluded to the game he held in 2013 with 24 players from our university that is collected in the book Chess towards the light.

The competition organized by the Honorary Chess Cathedra ratified the UCI as an important place within the sport of the 64 squares.
