UCI creates new collaboration ties at Universidad 2018
The signing of collaboration and exchange agreements with foreign universities closed the first day for the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) in the 11th Congress Universidad 2018.
Dr.Sc. Miriam Nicado García, rector of this institution, exchanged some ideas with the rector of the Zambezi University of Mozambique, Nobre Roque dos Santos, regarding student exchange, advice on the creation of software development centers in that African university, and the implementation of a technological city model as the one at UCI.
Likewise, Dr. Nicado signed a collaboration agreement with Dr. C. Henning Jensen Pennington, rector of the University of Costa Rica and president of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL, for its acronym in Spanish), who was grateful to work towards the agreement with our University and with Cuba, as he confessed his admiration for this wonderful country.
The president of the University at Albany, United States, Havidán Rodríguez, and the chair of Information technology Management at the same university in New York, Sanjay Goel, also spoke with the representatives of this house of higher studies.
In the meeting, both parties agreed to begin academic actions with the identification of areas where collaboration is possible, such as delivery of lectures, participation in scientific events and the joint publication of articles.
The Northamerican guests insisted on receiving the visit of UCI representatives in their university, something that has not been possible so far because of the new measures dictated by the US
The center had a full schedule of activities starting in the morning with the Rectors' Forum where Dr. Sc. Miriam Nicado acted as the moderator on the theme Higher Education quality. In the space, where the rectors of the universities of Havana, Las Villas, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the King Mongkut University of Thailand participated as speakers, there was a discussion about the accreditation of institutions.

Dr. Henning Jensen Pennington, rector of the University of Costa Rica is the president of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL, for its acronym in Spanish); he is also highly regarded in the field of Psychology.
