Proposed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (known as Unesco every September 20th, International University Sports Day is celebrated.

The aim of the proclamation of this day is to guarantee and preserve, for students and citizens, sports activities and programs in institutions of higher learning, in order to promote ethics, value systems, the fight against doping, fair play, physical education, a healthy lifestyle, quality of life, quality physical education, equality between men and women and social inclusion, and thus ensure a high quality physical education.

This date is part of a transdisciplinary educational project that includes physical education and sport and is focused on the role that the university should play in the community and the acquisition of the values of citizenship by the youth.

By dedicating one day a year to universities and sport for citizens, the International Federation of University Sports , composed of 167 national federations of university sports, including several hundred colleges, wishes to call attention to the essential role they play if we are to meet the challenges of our time, from the point of view of the acquisition and transmission of knowledge, but also, above all, of social and economic policy at local, national and international.

The University of Informatics  Sciences will celebrate this day with multiple activities, focused  in the 14 × 90  journey  and the celebration of the 90th birthday of our historic leader Fidel Castro Ruz, according to information received by Carlos Ismel Sobrado Olalde, director of Sports In this house of high studies.

Among them are the visit of important directors and figures of the Cuban sport as: Elizabeth Rondón Soler, National coordinator of Sport, Culture and Recreation; Osvaldo Hilgado, vice president of Public Relations of the Cuban Association of Physical-Motor Limits (Aclifim); Alexei Fernández Cardoso and Luis Lázaro Agüero Jiménez, international chess masters; Yasmani Lugo, Olympic runner-up in Rio and the pair of beach volleyball who participated in the Olympiad; As well as conversations with sports glories; Basketball competitions, futsal and chess enter faculties ; A marathon and a giant airborne.
