In the last school year concluded , the Ministry of Higher Education awarded Ms.C. María Cristina Hidalgo, a high recognition: the Cuban Distinguished Rafael Maria de Mendive, well-deserved for her outstanding pedagogical work for more than 34 years, among which are the studies and professional experiences teaching and as a leader. In addition, Professor María Cristina has attended numerous events as a participant, speaker, organizer, jury or court, among them Pedagogy 2017, seminars, forums and scientific conferences, workshops, the X International Congress of Education University 2016.

The acknowledgments are also reflected in her broad curriculum, which we omit for problems of space, although it is necessary to speak of the Honorable Mention in the Literary Contest of the Embassy of Chile, 1998 version: "Life and work of General Pedro Vargas Sotomayor" .

It is a lot  the work and the qualities of this educator whose workers  have the best criterion, of them, we take two:

Assistant Professor Luis Manuel Hernández Amarales, Methodologist of Political Economy: "Maria Cristina almost just opens as Head of the Department of Marxism-Leninism at the University of Computer Science (UCI). Very few months ago she began her activities; But since we arrived we have seen her as a very responsible partner, with great interest in developing all activities; That's why those of us who work with it are willing to provide them with all the collaboration they need. "

Miriam Clavel Hernández, secretary of the Department of Marxism-Leninism: "She is a formidable person, very human, creative and enthusiastic. Since she started in the Department we feel very motivated with her ideas and initiatives, her desire to work and that we move forward. She does not stop doing things, to create (I think even sleeping is thinking how to create, jokes to characterize it). In one word I say she is excellent. "

Let us meet this outstanding and simple professor  through her words:

"Why did you decide to study magisterium?"

- For a vocation, something that I was born with very young. In addition, there was a need to integrate the "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Pedagogical Detachment and I was inspired because I had a very  strong revolutionary formation from my parents, and everything the Revolution needed, because there I had. It was a proposal, and I accepted.

-In addition to teaching, what other actions do you think educators should do to educate?

- The educator has to act in all spheres, because it is not only an educator for a class space. It has to be an educator at all times: in its community, in its family space, in all aspects, because it transmits values in each place where he/she interacts.

"That is important in the case of an institution like this, because in the University we have different spaces; Not only in the classroom, but in the residence, in the dining rooms, in the street ... We are always transmitting ways and ways of acting, forms of behavior, and that is fundamental for the educator. "

-What satisfaction has brought you to have educated several generations over more than 34 years?

"Well,"she muses, "one important satisfaction is to see them later, anywhere, and they greet me and thank me for the space in which they were with me and everything I could teach them.

"To see them here in the University, for example, who are today my colleagues of work; That is to say, they were students until the last course and already today belong to the collective of workers. See them directing, because there you see everything you have done, in what you have contributed to form that personality, that individual.

"And then, there you always have a bit."

-A message to educators in their day.

- An important message: we have an important challenge in Cuba. Although it was always to educate and be better every day today, with the loss of our Commander, who has left us a very significant legacy for us and left us an important mission, which is to train this new generation.

"So the message is this: that inspired by the thinking of Fidel, Martí and all our heroes, to think that we are always transmitting values; Therefore the work of us is fundamental so that the society can be consolidated, so that the society can be renewed.

"If we are not aware of that, then we fail because the youth is going to continue and if we do not form it well and consolidate it as integral people, we can not say that society can advance.

"Therefore we have a very important mission, which has always been what it is today, and now it is strengthened, it is strengthened."
