The National Finals of the ACM-ICPC Programming Contest was held on October 7 in the Caribbean with the participation of 98 teams. The seat at the University of informatics Sciences (UCI), one of the seven headquarters that operated this Saturday in Cuba, hosted 19 groups, out of which FreesTyle rose as the winning team.

Declared as champions once again, after also obtaining the first place in the local competition  of ACM-ICPC at UCI, when they solved seven of the 11 problems proposed by the Caribbean Online Judge (COJ), ranking sixth in our geographical area.

In this house of higher studies, other UCI teams were also declared winners. They were UCI BLACK-OUT 01 , who accepted five of the challenges in 542 minutes, thus reaching second place. The third place in this institution was obtained by CyberWorld, who solved the same number of exercises in 675 minutes.

The Caribbean winner of the contest was the Netscape team of Universidad de Oriente, which solved all the problems and achieved the first place in the region, followed by UH ++ of the University of Havana, and KFP of the Central University Martha Abreu de Las Villas.

During the awards gala, chaired by Dr.C. José Luis Garcés, advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Dr.C. Omar Correa, Research Director at UCI, it was announced that the regional winners will be awarded at the inauguration of the Caribbean event, which will take place on November 10 and 11 in the city of Villa Clara, host of the Regional Finals ACM- ICPC 2017.
