The professional development is vital for graduates of our specialty.

The professional development is vital for graduates of our specialty.

The teaching, scientific and research quality, as well as the academic maturity of our universities, is the key objective of the evaluation and accreditation process of masters and doctorates in our country; Which is reflected in the institutions as a whole, contributing directly to the promotion of the culture of external evaluation and to the monitoring of internal efficiency and quality.

The National Accreditation Board is made up of well-known professionals from different university institutions in the country, who have the responsibility of evaluating the training in the different centers of higher education of doctors and masters.

Approved since 2009, the UCI is endorsed by the National Commission of Scientific Degrees (CNGC), as an institution authorized to train Ph.D.s in Technical Sciences in the specialty of Computer Science; Consolidating its process of maturation and materialization that includes: the approval of the Doctoral Program in Computing, starting from the agreement 13, dated January 25th, 2014; The certified categorization of the degree in Engineering in Computer Science and the Master in Management of Computer Projects -categorised of Excellence by the National Accreditation Board- and the accreditation process of the Master's Degree in Software Quality and the Doctoral Program in Computer Science to be held during the last week of the current month.

Several professionals from our house of high studies who, linked to such an important process of accreditation, proudly honor this experimental educational institution, a production and learning center.

Such is the case of Ph.D.Yanio Hernández Heredia, titled as an engineer in Computer Science during the first graduation of the UCI, and who today, carries within himself the honor and personal satisfaction of being part of the staff that teaches the Doctoral Program.

In the University of Informatics Sciences.

"I currently serve as dean of school 2 and as professor of the Department of Programming, teaching the undergraduate subjects: Programming 2 and 3 (Data Structure) in second year and Programming 4 (Compilers) in the third year."

Ph.D.

"The Doctorate is in Technical Sciences, specialized in Computer science, studied in our University and with research stays in the University of Malaga, Spain".

I started the  Ph.D. in 2010 and I finished it in 2013. I developed it in a tutorial way, so I did not have to pass modules to obtain credits. It was only necessary to comply with the requirements of the national commission of scientific degrees:  publications level, participation in events, approval of the topic in the CITMA and the minimum tests of language, PSCT and the specialty. However, the way to do the Doctorate would not have been possible without the support of the professors of the program who at all times were guiding my research and the steps I had to take in each moment. "

The professional improvement (from your personal experience)

"The professional improvement is of vital importance for the graduates of our specialty. The Computer Science does not stop, on the contrary, with the advance of science and technology it is fundamental to be constantly improving, instead, we will never be good computer users. In the career they teach us the tools to continue learning in the subjects of computer science; Achieving a specialization using these tools will allow us to obtain innovative results that can solve problems in society, but above all things contribute to the computerization of the country.

The process of accreditation of Masters and Ph.D.s in our universities (in general) and the UCI (in particular)

"Achieving credentials for postgraduate studies in higher education institutions is very important, allowing them to obtain higher visibility and quality markers in accordance with the requirements of the National Accreditation Board."

"In our specific case, it is true that we are a fresh university, but at the same time with much history and a great mission conferred by our invincible and eternal Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz: computerize the processes of Cuban society. This is why achieving our doctorate and master's degrees, allow us to gain greater visibility in our country and abroad. Besides that, it is fundamental to obtain the accreditation of the Doctorate to close the professional study cycle of our institution ".

... be involved in the process of accreditation of the Doctorate

"It has been a great commitment because despite having the scientific category of Doctor of Science, I am still very young and be part of the staff, influence in the training of my colleagues and evaluate them; it is a huge responsibility. However, it is undoubtedly helping to keep on overcoming me and, in turn, I commit to continue fighting because our University - from my modest contribution, along with many others - continue to reap fruits and conquer the frontiers of knowledge.

The future

"I see a well-known and mature University, capable of being a reference in the region for its excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate studies that are carried out in the Institute and contributing in the computerization of the country and revenues for the export of products and  Computing services ".
