New ways to teach English with the Remote Learning methodology
From June 6th to 8th, the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) is a host venue for a Communication skills training--listening and speaking in English as a foreign language, with the use of the "Remote Learning" methodology.
A group of 15 professors, selected from each of the higher education institutions throughout the country, play an important role in the implementation of a policy which expects them to get the most out of the training in order to share the knowledge acquired, as they replicate it their own universities

This activity is conceived as part of the policy of perfecting English Language Teaching in the universities through the working relationship between the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) and the British Council (UK International Organization for Cultural Relations and Educational opportunities).
The training aims at contributing to the professional development of outstanding teachers from different Cuban universities in order to improve their listening and speaking communicative skills in the foreign language. This is part of the staff preparation to implement the policies for perfecting the teaching of English in our higher studies institutions.
The sessions are being conducted through video conferencing by British professor from the Remote Teaching Center in Argentina; this constitutes the initial pilot for the continuous implementation of a Remote Teaching Learning project (Remote Learning).
This methodology has been successfully applied by the British Council in several Latin American countries. If the final results are satisfactory, the methodology would be launched in the future for other training actions promoted through these joint working agreements.
